Sara Edwards and her fiancé were temporarily staying with a friend until they could save enough money for bus fare to go back home to Tennessee. Life threw them a curve when the friend could no longer house them. They literally found themselves on the streets of Toledo.

Sara and her fiancé were working, but they didn’t make enough money to afford a motel and save to go back home. Sara called United Way 211 and she was directed to the Winter Crisis Program. “You kept us off the streets, you fed us, if we needed a lunch, you provided a lunch, if we needed socks, clothing, you didn’t hesitate giving it to us,” Sara said gratefully. Sara is also grateful that she didn’t have to sleep under a bridge in Toledo while having to report to work the next day.

She is now in Tennessee with her family. We wish her well.
