Our Services

SPCC is more than a homeless shelter. We are a community rehousing center. Our services focus on the housing rehabilitation of each individual. Homelessness can happen to anyone. In fact, most Americans are one major disaster away from experiencing homelessness. From offering daily meals, showers and mail service, to helping our clients manage their income and thrive in independent living, SPCC Toledo is proud to have served the greater Lucas County community for more 45 years!

Social Services -

At SPCC Toledo we see how our meals and shelter are just the first step for men and women to transform their lives.

In addition to a warm bed and food provided at SPCC, we focus on programs and services that help hundreds of men and women get back on their feet and live independently.

We help our clients get back to work, guide them to accessing benefits and health care, and move them into their own homes.

Simply put, we are much more than a homeless shelter.

Payee Program -

SPCC Toledo’s Representative Payee Program provides financial management for more than 600 individuals in Lucas County who live independently with mental and/or physical disabilities.

The program works as a homeless prevention program by ensuring the individual’s rent and utilities are paid in a timely manner. Excess income is distributed throughout the month based on the needs and wants of each individual.

Navigator and Housing Stability Manager -

It’s our belief that no man or woman should be left behind. Our Navigator / Housing Stability Manager (HSM) seeks homeless individuals and helps them access resources. Our Navigator/HSM remains connected with individuals until their housing situation has stabilized and they achieved self-sufficiency.

Winter Crisis Program -

Our Winter Crisis Program opens the shelter doors on the coldest nights of the year. Without this program, many area homeless individuals would have nowhere to go.

Donations of food, winter clothing, personal hygiene items, socks and underclothes are accepted to help with the Winter Crisis Program.

SPCC Toledo’s Winter Crisis Program runs all winter. No reservation is needed. We accept all individuals, until we are at capacity.

The Shelter -

Our 35-bed Shelter program provides more than 12,000 nights of shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness each year. 90% of shelter residents are severely and persistently mentally ill.

Beyond food, shelter and basic needs, we also provide case management focused on permanent housing solutions and guidance on how to navigate community resources.

Mail, Shower, and Laundry Program -

Obtaining vital documents is near impossible without an address to have mail sent to.

SPCC Toledo allows clients and non-clients have their vital documents, like social security cards, birth certificates, SSI, and more sent to our facility until a more permanent address can be established.

We also offer free showers, and laundry services to anyone in the community that is need of a hot shower or a place to clean their clothes. We provide the soap, and all necessary supplies needed.
